Daniel, great post. This is an excellent reminder to all that though these political affiliations touch on issues that are obviously very important to Christians, these are not necessarily (though I suppose in the future they can be) Christian issues in the sense that one has to agree/disagree with them to claim to be a follower of Christ. Thank you for the reminder. Btw, I notice you’re in SD? I recently moved here, it’s a great place~

Elderj — Good to hear from you. I think I have a lingering uneasiness about all of these discussions precisely because of what you point out: the struggle for power. Somehow, finding a balance as followers of Christ is extremely difficult when it comes to dealing with power. I’ve seen many people asking these days, Can we maintain a prophetic voice if we become ensnared in the political process? Or, to ask a less grand question, Can we draw our sense of power and worth from another source?
